Uniforms for me are very much an out growth of my interest in leather. It is a complete manifestation of the hyper-masculine image, power and fantasy. Putting on a uniform puts me in a completely different frame of mind.

From a young age we are taught to look up and respect cops, and many of us worship that impression. Cops represent authority, to the extent that the power impression becomes a sexual thrill of masculinity. Uniforms accentuate the masculinity. Uniforms present a strong dominant personality to the public, and that brings to the surface subconscious submissive tendencies in many men. From our youth, we are taught to look up to and respect cops, and many men never lose that impression.

Since we are brought up looking at cops as super-human he-men, the perceived paradox of a cop having gay sex is extremely irresistible. This goes for any traditionally masculine role, such as the military, cowboys or athletes.

For leathermen in particular, who already live in an ultra-masculine society, the cop represents a heightened level of that masculinity. They are a personification of  the dominant man, in a role that they can all relate to.

I like wearing my uniforms for the fantasy it creates within me. It is if I become another person, being able to remove myself from my own persona. People respond to you differently when you are wearing a uniform.

For many people uniforms are also a fetish, and there are several organizations devoted to gay men who love wearing uniforms. It is an extreme sense of commradare. There is usually a great deal of respect to the proper wearing of a uniform, and many go to great lengths to ensure their uniforms are authentic to the last detail. Uniforms are not a fetish for me, but like a man with a big Cigar, it is a hyper-masculine image that certainly fuels my imagination.
