Latex is a fetish for a large number of people. Just like Leather, Much of the appeal of latex is in the tightness and shininess of the material. Clothes made out of it enhances your awareness of your sensual self and restraints made out of them can cling like a second skin. There is a definite transformative kinkyness invoked by images of men in latex and rubber gear. Rubber fetish is often assoicated with open mindedness and an experimentive nature. Rubbermen are turned on by the idea of male transformation with rubber garments and gear and There are many varieties of rubber gear and toys. Latex is a highly refined type of rubber, and garments made of it are usually much thinner and shinier than a rubber garment. While rubberwear is generally made to protect one from the elements and environments, Latexwear is designed to enhance the sensations.
My personal interest in latex wear quite obviously developed from my earlier fetish with latex balloons. The slick texture and shine as well as the natural aroma of the latex are all stimulants to my senses. I love the way the latex moulds tightly to the body, exerting a snug constaint pressure of restraint, yet visually exposing every bump and ripple of the body. I like to wear my latex clothing at the sametime I indulge in a session of balloon play, letting the sounds, touch and smell fill my senses. There are also inflatable rubber garments, and groups of fetishists dedicated to that subset of the fetish completely.
Fetish latexwear is normally black, but transparent latex as also common, and fashion garments can be made in virtually any color.
There is a lot of care involved in maintaining latex as it is a natural material. It should be washed and cleaned after wearing, and carefully dried and powdered to keep it from sticking to itself. I prefer cornstarch as a powder, since talc powders are made from a minutely abrading mineral. Latex should be sealed in a plastic bag, and stored in a cool dark place to preserve them as long as possible. Putting on a latex garment can be a two person activity, with a second person to help stretch the latex over your body. It always helps to lube your body well with either powder or liquid lube, depending on the type of play you are anticipating. Powder is good for extended wearing, and can be washed off the outside of the garment after you get it on with a soft damp cloth. Then the garment can be polished for a high shine with a number of proffesional products. I never recommend "amoral" or an automotive product as these are harsh on such thin latex products. "Black Beauty" is a product developed specially for latex garments, and leaves a very glossy shine. Never use an oil based produce on latex, as it disolves the material. Some folks like to use a liquid lube, especially in the groin area of the garment, and this is an incredible sensation. I find that I sweat enough, that I am eventually slipping and sliding around in the latex enough without adding the lube.
